LOBAMBA – Friday night’s game against Mhlambanyatsi Rovers could not change Mbabane Highlanders’ misfor-tunes as they settled for a goalless draw.

This is despite the much awaited return of assistant coach Zonke Mawelela to the ‘Bull’s Kraal’, who started dri-lling the team earlier this week.

With only a minute into the game a great save by Highl-anders’ goalkeeper Sebenele Malaza denied Rovers a chance to collect the three points after a shot by Dan Sha-bangu failed to find the back of the net. The game started on a high note with Rovers showing superiority over the ‘Bull’ but still missing all the chances that came their way.

Highlanders, who are still struggling at the bottom four of the log with five points after six games, failed to live up to the expectations of their supporters who were hoping for better results after the dramatic changes within the team, which also saw manager Mthofi Khumalo back in the team.

Highlander’s defender Eugene Dlamini couldn’t believe it when his well taken shot missed the target by inches, with only five minutes before the break.

Rovers’ goalkeeper Nhlanhla Dlamini was not there to make a save. That was the only chance Highlanders had in the first half while Rovers missed their fast running strikers Mzwandile Ndzimandze and Simanga Mago-ngo.

Sensing danger, Highlanders coach Phillip Mbofana substit-uted Cameroonian midfilder Joel Heukeu for pint-sized Mcolisi ‘Nana’ Dlamini.

impact

His presence made an impact in the game as he created those few chances only to miss.

Rovers substituted Muhle Shiba for Sabelo Sangweni who also failed to find the back of the net after numerous chances. The less than 100 Rovers supporters even called for his substitution when he failed to burry in the ball with only five minutes before full time after a well taken cross by Mzw-andile Ndzimandze. Highlanders were forced to play half ground at this point of the game.

The referee Senzo Nkambule the blow his final whistle much to the disappoin-tment of the close to 500 supporters who watch the games.
